Vocational integration
The Association of National Choreographic Centres champions vocational integration for choreographic artists.
Dancers’ careers are typically shorter than those of theatre artists, but vocational integration mechanisms targeting choreographic artists, graduating from educational and higher education institutions that are authorised by the Ministry of Culture to deliver the DNSPD, are still less developed compared to other performing arts disciplines.
With the support of the Délégation à la Danse, the ACCN entrusted Michel Lefeivre with a study project to develop a vocational integration mechanism for dancers. He would use existing schemes from the theatre and circus sectors to propose a way to financially support young choreographic artists in their job search. Since 1971, graduates from theatre higher education institutions have benefited from a vocational integration mechanism (Jeune Théâtre National). Since 2021, graduates from circus higher education institutions can also benefit from a similar mechanism (Jeune Cirque National).
